I first learned of these two AVR-2s in 2009. The machines had been sitting out in the woods behind Martin Hill's home in Midland, NC for 21 years. The machines were part of an auction lot in the Heritage USA sell-off.

    Martin, not being particularly interested in 2 inch machines
had run out of storage space indoors in his film equipment
building, so these two machines were left sitting in the spot
they were unloaded from the truck.

    In 2012, I decided to try and rescue whatever was left.

    The size of some of the small trees growing around
the machines illustrates just how much time had passed.
